Long Player

A simple home set at the edge of a newly established vineyard in Martinborough.

With a long northern aspect, the monopitch shed form lets light and ventilation into every room. At either end the building feathers away. At the east, a fern garden and pergola opens off the main bedroom and bathroom. On the west, the living areas open onto a deep verandah with integrated planting and dappled light from a trellis shaded clear roof. The foundation of the house extends out into the landscape, parcelling off a little area of land to plant and providing for jetties which give access onto the land from every room.
